Local businesses are the backbones of healthy economies, but the costs, complexities, and challenges of operating a small business have never been more substantial.
Many of these challenges require specialized expertise that cannot be learned overnight; but the right person is hard to find. The professional services marketplace is often fragmented, transactional, and difficult to trust, leading many business owners with no clear solution.

The Atelier exists to provide those solutions by orchestrating impact engagements between business owners and skilled practitioners within the Arcata ecosystem. We help small businesses clarify their needs, define the scope, identify the right practitioner, and steward the engagement until completion.
Our practitioners work across three broad domains. Commercial engagements help organizations strengthen strategy, revenue, operations, financial modeling, and distribution. Creative engagements help organizations improve brand, artistry, messaging, design, media, and public expression. And cultural engagements help organizations clarify their mission, vision, institutional identity, and guiding principles.
The result is not advice for its own sake. It is concrete work, carried through with trust and discipline, oriented towards strengthening the ability of small businesses to not only survive, but flourish. The Atelier connects the right people to make this happen.
