“THE OBJECT OF OPENING THE MIND, AS OF OPENING THE MOUTH, IS TO SHUT IT AGAIN ON SOMETHING SOLID.”

THE SALON
SALON (FRENCH), N: A LARGE ROOM USED TO RECEIVE AND ENTERTAIN GUESTS
The world deserves a better public square than social media.
It has become a truism that our world, which has never before been more connected, has never been more starved for community. But this fact is a truism only because it is still true.
Many of our social environments, whether personal or digital, are still shallow, passive, and consumerist. There are few spaces where people can come together for substantial conversation and community-building.
CURATED SOCIAL EXPERIENCES
Mission: To host lively gatherings for people of goodwill, convened around great food and substantive conversation.
Vision: A robust network of cultural events, fostering shared inquiry and spirited fellowship.
The Salon is crafting these kinds of spaces, inspired by the idea that unrushed leisure and interpersonal encounter are important conditions for personal fulfillment and cultural vitality. Salon events are ultimately about bringing communities together for dinner, drinks, and discussion.
In order to accomplish our mission of promoting cultural excellence and local flourishing, Salon events will be anchored in conversations about timely and timeless ideas, spanning culture, governance, economics, and technology. These conversations are led by speakers who achieved demonstrable excellence in their field, who are enlightening, edifying, and (most importantly) entertaining.
Beginning with our Fall 2026 Summit in Bozeman, Montana, the Salon is endeavoring to bring curated social experiences to cities across the nation.
