VENUES

“A house is not a home unless it contains food and fire for the mind as well as the body.”

—Benjamin Franklin

OVERVIEW

In order to catalyze a robust network of social and intellectual gatherings, the Arcata is cultivating relationships with high-quality (though not necessarily “high-class”) venues in select cities across the fruited plains. These venues are collaborating to help bring Arcata events to life, from one-night supper gatherings to educational courses hosted over 12 weeks.

For our venue partners, the Arcata represents an opportunity to become a physical cornerstone of community and culture in their locale. Exceptional venues will be invited to form an ongoing partnership to host events on a recurring basis.

Ideal venues are locally owned and operated, with an atmosphere that is conducive to community, culture, and conversation. Good food and drink are imperative. Such venues might include historic houses and hotels, ethnic pubs, restaurants, breweries, distilleries, wineries, and coffeehouses.

“The ornament of a house is the friends who frequent it.”
