Healthy communities need places where people gather—where neighbors become friends, ideas become enterprises, and commerce contributes to the culture and common life of a place.
Yet many of the institutions that sustain this common life have grown weaker. Communities have become more fragmented, local economies more fragile, and places for meaningful gathering increasingly rare.
Arcata was founded in response.

OUR MODEL
Arcata brings commerce and culture into a common architecture. Through the Salon, the Collegium, and the Atelier—three complementary pillars spanning hospitality, education, and professional services—people gather, learn, and build together.
The Salon. Our social forum convenes curated gatherings with speakers who enlighten, edify, and entertain. Through exceptional hospitality, it fosters third places for intentional leisure, meaningful conversation, and reflective contemplation.
The Collegium. Our educational arena cultivates personal, intellectual, and vocational formation through local courses, virtual sessions, and other modules for lifelong learning.
The Atelier. Our collaborative workshop brings entrepreneurs, creatives, and skilled practitioners together to exchange expertise, develop shared projects, and forge mutually beneficial partnerships.

DOUGLAS DYE
From Wall Street to Tierra del Fuego, Dar es Salaam to the City of Angels, Douglas has been a servant-leader on behalf of Fortune 100 companies, the U.S. Foreign Service, and international non-profit organizations.
As an explorer, executive, and entrepreneur, Douglas has built and led teams worldwide with competence, common sense, and courage—and by developing others to top performance through commitment to excellence, creativity, and good humor.
Beginning his career in the jungles of post-civil war Nicaragua as a business development volunteer in the United States Peace Corps, Douglas has lived throughout the United States and in six countries across Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East, and has conducted business in more than twenty-five. Highly curious and collaborative by nature, he earned his M.B.A. from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of California, Riverside.
A tragic optimist and fallible knight errant, Douglas was born and raised in the Rocky Mountains of Montana, to where he has now returned, hanging his hat in Big Sky Country. He begins each day with an early-morning workout along the Yellowstone River and ends it with a meditation on the mysteries of the Rosary.
NATHANIEL LAMANSKY
From beginnings in the Midwestern Plains, out to the rugged Mountain West, Nate has engaged in scholarly and professional pursuits across a wide range of fields and places. Hailing from small-town Iowa, Nate made his way East to the foothills of the Appalachians, where he studied Humanities and Catholic Culture at the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio. In parallel to his schooling, he completed a year-long internship with Manalive Media Group, practiced Muay Thai, spoke at parliamentary debates, and played the fiddle in an Irish folk band.
After graduating with honors, Nate moved to Montana and became a wildland firefighter, cultivating real-world experience as a sawyer and squad lead trainee. He and his wife now live in the green woods of the Bitterroot Mountains, in a little spot where “a river runs through it.”
Vastly curious and insatiably active, Nate enjoys reading and writing, hiking and lifting, brewing mead, playing violin, and tending to his chickens.
MICHAEL COLLINS
Beginning his career at K1 Investment Management, Michael executed M&A transactions across several enterprise software verticals as a member of the investment team. Inspired by entrepreneurial internships and consulting projects with startup companies during his university days, he maximized the opportunity to learn in a founder-led business environment, assisting the next generation of industry-leading companies accelerate their growth through strategic M&A and sound financial planning.
Originally from the upper Snoqualmie Valley in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, Michael left Washington to play football at Pomona College, the founding institution of the Claremont Colleges, an Oxford-style consortium in Southern California. In the classroom, Michael studied economics, classics, and medieval history before earning his MBA from the Drucker School of Management. On the gridiron, he served as a three-year captain, earning All-League honors on the offensive line while leading his team to its first league championship since 1955.
Michael currently resides in the City of Angels, is an avid home chef, and is working towards his purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
