The universities were founded as guilds of thinkers, who met wherever they could—churches, homes, and even taverns. They were not drawn by mere credentialism or bureaucratic necessity, but by the prospect of learning for its own sake.

As the Collegium’s flagship format, local courses build on this historic foundation to deliver structured yet communal classes spanning the Western educational tradition. Meeting weekly in pubs, breweries, and restaurants, students have the opportunity to pursue knowledge as part of a fellowship.

Most of modern education is centered around the passive consumption and memorization of information. The Collegium is following a higher standard, relying on dialectical exercise and logical rigor to impart the skills of critical thinking and persuasion.
