VENDORS

“The market and distributive channel are often more crucial than the product.”

—Peter Drucker

OVERVIEW

Vendors are partners who strengthen Arcata through products, services, materials, media, or other forms of tangible support. This may include bookstores supplying course texts, breweries, coffeehouses, or restaurants providing refreshments, publishers helping circulate ideas, media companies supporting production or distribution, or local businesses offering goods and services that improve the quality of experiences at Arcata.

Ideally, these partnerships ought to be founded upon shared interest in serious conversation, local community and economics, and cultural excellence. We are looking to partner with businesses and organizations whose work naturally belongs within the ecosystem we are building. A bookstore, brewery, printer, publisher, filmmaker, caterer, hotel, or local producer can help shape the quality, texture, and hospitality of Arcata activity in a given city.

For Vendors, partnership with Arcata is an opportunity for involvement with a growing network of highly engaged and local guests, students, patrons, and clients; Vendors’ products can be read, tasted, used, discussed, recommended, and experienced in context through Arcata events and services. The value is not vague exposure, but curative placement within gatherings and programs where there is attention based in trust. As Arcata grows across cities, Vendor relationships will play an important role in keeping the model locally grounded and materially excellent.
